Hello

My name is Nicholas Giovanni Larkins and I am the founder and owner of Nickel G. Clothing ©. It signifies education, mental awareness, the art of poetry, and music. I'm also a big advocate for giving back. Support my charity. Thank you and God bless.

Nicholas Giovanni Larkins obtained the nickname Nickel G. from his friend Jason Straughter a.k.a. Jay Clipp. The name Nicholas Giovanni stems from Yolanda Cornelia Nikki Giovanni Jr., a famous poet. I accredit my parents for the catchy name, Nicholas Giovanni, a native of Mississippi, by way of the Mississippi Delta (Itta Bena/Greenwood) and the River City, which is Vicksburg, Mississippi. I have always wanted to be in the entertainment industry since my childhood. I participated in my first talent show in the sixth grade, along with my childhood friend Terrance Martin. We performed the rap duo "Eric B. and Rakim" song "Paid in Full" and earned third place in the talent show, which boosted our confidence to know more about the entertainment industry. I was determined to learn more by making mixed tapes off my parents' double-deck cassette tape F.M. and A.M. surround sound stereo.

I was introduced not only to music by my parents but by my cousins Dannie, Mona, and Stanley. I can recall visiting the Mississippi Delta at my Grandparents' home and experiencing a library of music. Furthermore, I received my style and fashion from my brothers Tyrone and Kenya and a good childhood experience with my remaining siblings Grumpy, Zye, Tanzania, Yumba, and Wilheim. Nickel G. wouldn't be what it is today if it wasn't for The Funeral Home Crew as well as...Jay, Reno, Moby D., Wong, Jessie, Charleston, Shellie, Zye, Jay Clipp, D Lane, T Lane, and those I forgot to mention. Shout out to the Gator Nation, Snack, Arno, Larry, Otis Jr., Jamie, Ramel, Roosevelt,  Tee, Chris, Rodney "R.I.P., Perez etc. Chi Towns finest... Juice Crew... L.A., T Tuck, etc.

Over time, I worked with a crew of Dee Jays in the nineties and to the present called 3rd Eye Entertainment, which consists of D.J. Scrapp Dirty/Violator Allstar D.J.s, D.J. PhingaPrint, D.J. B Dub, DJ. Cuzzin Bobby/ National Public Radio "The Tiny Desk", D.J. Jay Clipp/ Keep Spinning D.J. Academy, D.J. Conscious, D.J. Sketch, D.J. Kash, D.J. Doc, D.J. Jonasty, D.J. Aziatikk Blakk, D.J. I graduated from grade school and pursued higher learning in Mass Communication with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Business Administration from Jackson State University in 2002. I started working for On Top Communications /HOT 97.7 & MAGIC 100.9 WRJH & WJXN as an intern doing promotions, then ventured on to being an assistant promotions director, radio personality/sales representative. Our team worked with Jackon Public School System, Jackon State University, Alcorn State University, Hinds Community College, Vicksburg Warren School District, Tougloo College, and other various educational institutions such as mentoring the youth on mental awareness, non-violence, and education, through Dee Jaying at school functions like pep rallies, and sports activities such as football, basketball, other games as we broadcast live from the Hot 97.7 van. We let the youth get on the mic and chant their favorite tunes as we pass out t-shirts, music, and food, as they enjoyed their favorite radio personality cheering them on. We also did public speaking at school assemblies such as poetry readings and other comprehensive assignments.  We also worked in the Stew Pot Community Center, Boys and Girls Club, Jayne Avenue, provided hot meals to the homeless, after school program for the kids, and etc. l also furthered my career by working for WMPR 90.1 FM in Jackson, Mississippi; which is the late Charles Evers Radio Station. I start the Giovanni Soul and Talk Show on Thursday nights from 10 pm to 2 am. Thanks to God and my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for blessing me with the gift of helping others and gracing me with such a talent.
